Maintenance

Laser cooling liquid replacement

• Set the laser to Standby mode

• Use some gas or pressed air (low pressure) to get the liquid out. Empty the chiller with the hose (picture 5) for an SMC chiller, and for a Thermotek take off the white cap and put the chiller upside-down at a sink.
• Flow the sink with tapwater when flushing the Coolflow in there.
• Reconnect everything back and fill up the chiller.

Troubleshooting

The laser wavelength is unstable / cannot lock

If the laser wavelength is unstable and/or the panel shows Status: Starting or Status: Modelock Search:

1. Open the ChameleonGUI software on the lab PC.
2. Go to the Tune tab and perform several sweeps with decreasing steps, from 80 nm to 10 nm (e.g., 80 -> 60 -> 40 -> 20 -> 10).
3. It should run for approximately one hour.

This should solve the issue.
